Meet

Bilal Hodzic

Why did you start this venture?

To create a product that people will use and benefit from. I also want to contribute to global sustainability and help reduce waste.

Have you successfully fundraised?

We are operating without any external funding so far. We participated in Climathon, where we won second place and received 1500 BAM, which we used primarily for marketing purposes. Our only costs are for maintenance, which we cover with our own money. Everything else is done by us. Most of our team members have technical backgrounds, which we leveraged to build our platform.

What trends are impacting your business?

We have noticed an increasing interest in the second-hand industry, not only in our country but also across Europe. This trend has had a significant impact on us, as buying and selling second-hand clothes has become more popular. Another key trend is the growing popularity of online shopping. After COVID-19, people became accustomed to purchasing almost everything online. This shift has made them less conservative and more willing to try online shopping.

What has been the biggest growth related challenge?

Prioritizing what to do next: When building a startup, there are so many tasks to tackle that it can be difficult to decide what to focus on first. You constantly have to balance implementing improvements for users and building a profitable business. The ideal solution lies somewhere in between. Consistency: Building something great requires consistent effort, and there is no easy path to success. This can be especially challenging when you cannot provide financial support for your team. Everyone needs a source of motivation to stay consistent.

What advice would you give to first time founders?

To someone with just an idea: Ideas are worthless—action is key. Don't be afraid to share your idea; you can only gain valuable insights and feedback from others. Don’t launch a startup if your only motivation is money. It takes a lot of effort and time before you start earning. You need something deeper to keep you going when money isn’t involved. To someone already working on their idea: Conduct interviews with your customers as much as possible. You don’t want to build something that nobody will use. Also, the challenges I mentioned earlier, like prioritization and consistency, can serve as helpful advice for others in the same situation.

What drives your forward when facing challenges?

I’ve realized that I enjoy the process of building things, and that’s one thing that always keeps me going. Once you’ve started and have users depending on your platform, it gives you the energy to continue this journey. I feel like I’m already in it, and now I can’t stop. Another thing that helped me is the mindset I adopted long ago: treat everything you do as a lesson. I’ve had previous failed startup ideas, but I believe they needed to happen to teach me what doesn’t work.
